A Step-by-Step Guide to Cleaning Your AC Filters
Keeping your air conditioning filters clean will ensure the air in your home or business is fresh and dust-free. Poorly maintained filters affect the energy efficiency of your AC unit and the quality of the air you breathe. If you aren’t sure how to clean your filters, TC Air has you covered. Here is our step-by-step guide to cleaning or replacing your air conditioning filters.
Step One: Open the Air Conditioning Unit
First thing’s first: make sure your air conditioner is turned off at the main power supply. Open the outer case of your AC unit as instructed in your user manual – if you’ve lost this, most AC models have their manuals and care instructions available online.
Step Two: Remove the Filters
Carefully remove the air conditioning filters by pulling them out of position. If you have trouble removing your filters or at any stage feel uncomfortable completing this filter clean – we are here to help. Contact one of TC Air & Electric’s friendly staff today to arrange a filter clean.
Step Three: Clean the Filters
Wash your removed filters in warm soapy water until clean. We recommend using a couple of drops of mild dishwashing liquid diluted in a sink full of warm water.
If your filters require a deep clean to rid mould or bad smells or require deodorising it is best to contact TC Air your Air Conditioning professionals to complete a full service of your system.
Step Five: Dry your filters
Place your freshly washed filters out in the sun to dry.
Step Six: Fit the Filters
Now it’s time to fit the filters back into the air conditioning unit and put the outer components back into place. If you notice any problems, call a technician to organise a service ASAP.
